Thanks KUVO & Victor!

I got tickets from Victor to see Shelly Taylor at Dazzle. I should have known something was up when Ken Walker came over to chat with a gentleman seated behind me. The show was kickin' - Shelly, Ken, and Todd Reid were great together. Then Shelly introduced the gentleman behind me as Billy Wallace! Billy joined them on stage and blew the roof off Dazzle for two numbers! I will never forget that show. I encourage everyone to check out Billy's 80th birthday bash at Dazzle on August 23!

Elmore James

I was listening to some Elmore James from my library, when I realized it was almost time for the R&B Jukkebox show, so I came over to KUVO online. I'll tell ya its hard to switch off EJ. I'll tell ya its a hard choice. If you don't know Elmore James' music give it a listen. Some good cuts are: Woke Up Screamin' and Cryin', She's Got to Go, Person to Person, and of course the classics Dust My Broom and Shake Your Money Maker. These last two were written by EJ af far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong) and been covered more times than anyone can count. Well, it's 6:37 Sat PM and the All Blues Show is playing "Walkin' the Dog " time for this old coot to start payin' attention. More later. Thanks for reading my post.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

I happened across a reference in one of the blogs that I read regularly (though I can't remember which one) to Gil Scott - Heron's Classic rap "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" (the song , not the album), so I decided to give it a listen. It has been at least five years since I have really paid any attention to this song. Well, one thing led to another and I ended up listening to the whole album. This stuff is so much better and to the point than the rap I hear today. The man is a True Pioneer.
Howdy from breezy Durango CO

Until about ten years ago I was a resident on the Front Range in the Boulder area. I was a big fan of KUVO at that time. When I moved to Cortez, I had no means of listening online. For this reason, and because there are some pretty good public stations here in the four corners area, I pretty much for got about KUVO. Then, acouple of months ago my nephew, who is a listener called me with a message to tune into the R&B Jukebox. Now, even though I have a ton of music available to me through the wonders of personal computing, I always try to catch the Box. What a treat! Rediscovering this station is like running into an old friend and finding that you enjoy thir company as much as you ever did. I will have some posts later about specific music, but for now you can check out my post "A Note on Birdsong" at http://brerbirch.blogspot.com. This link doesn't seem to work, but you can put it in your browsers address bar and it shoul work.
